Having found fame and fortune with his debut novel, Richard McMurray (Scott) is trapped in Malibu, stuck in a bad marriage and under contract to complete a new book he despises. When his wife locks him out, he's suddenly free of both her and the novel he's barely started.
With nowhere else to go, Richard finds himself crashing on the couch of a couple of sexy coeds (Caplan and Miko) after speaking at their college writing class. Seeing these ambitious young women up-close and personal, he becomes secretly inspired to feature them in his next great work. They, in turn, write their own short stories, which seem to be taunts directly at him. An elaborate game of sexually-charged cat-and-mouse ensues--but who exactly is pursuing whom?
