Brad Furman received critical acclaim for his first short film, "Fast Forward", which played at over 25 festivals. Since then he has directed multiple music videos and sold two film concepts starring Tyrese Gibson -- who describes him as "the future of music videos and feature films down a road less traveled."
If we made a movie out of your life so far, what would the title be?
How to Stay Above Water, Without Knowing How to Swim
You wake up tomorrow and movies no longer exist. What would we find you doing professionally?
Teaching kids and Coaching basketball
If you could have a drink with any character from a movie who would it be and why?
I'm not a big drinker so I'd have to say instead I'd prefer to shoot hoops with Jimmy Chipwood of HOOSIERS (a true underdog story). If it had to be a drink, then Mookie from DO THE RIGHT THING. A film that influenced and moved me as a young adult more than any film I had ever seen. It's a culturally significant film that speaks to the humanity in us all. We consistently forget this humanity exists which leads to racism, anti-semitism, ageism, sexism and any and all bigotry. DO THE RIGHT THING touches on all of these issues and focuses on the value of a person's life, something today in the wake of 9/11 I feel we as a human race have lost site of.
What happened to advance your film from an idea on the page into a reality?
Not accepting "No" as a legitimate or acceptable answer in this business.
